Jelle de Jonge

Jelle de Jonge’s debut feature film Bon Bini Holland (2015) starring Jandino Asporaat, became a massive box office hit, earning the Dutch Academy Audience Award (Golden Calf) and becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the past decade. His second feature, Weg van Jou (2017) featuring Katja Herbers (Westworld, Evil) and Elise Schaap was met with glowing reviews, with leading Dutch newspaper Volkskrant calling it "The romcom The Netherlands has been waiting for". Jelle his film De Terugreis (2024) won the Dutch Academy Award for best film.

Throughout his career, Jelle directed beloved television series such as Vaders en Moeders (2017), the mini-series Kerst met de Kuipers (2018) for Videoland, ten episodes of Harkum (2019), the fourth season of Nieuwe Buren (2019) starring Bracha van Doesburgh and Anna Drijver, the successful comedy series De Luizenmoeder (2019) and Lieve Mama (2020) starring Aiko Mila Beemsterboer.

Earlier in his career Jelle worked as a creator for the De Jakhalzen and directed various hit comedy shows, including Sluipschutters, Koefnoen, Dr. Ellen and Toren C.

The tragicomedy De Terugreis (2024), directed by Jelle de Jonge, attracted more than 250,000 cinema visitors in the Netherlands and is this year's Dutch entry for the Oscars in the International Feature Film category.

Recently Jelle directed and co-wrote De Z van Zussen which he also creative produced with Elise Schaap and Bracha van Doesburgh. The film will hit theaters in 2024.

De Jonge’s impressive portfolio includes directing commercials, and he is involved in developing and conceptualizing new television series and feature films.
