Sallie Harmsen

Sallie Harmsen is a household name in the Dutch film and television scene, well underway to becoming one internationally. Her international breakthrough came in the form of a captivating performance in Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 (2017), where she starred opposite Jared Leto in the iconic birth scene as the female replicant.

Sallie's talent has been recognized locally and internationally, having been nominated for a Dutch Academy Award (Golden Calf) for her role in Het Echte Leven (2008) and receiving a nomination for Best Actress in 2012 for her role in De Geheimen van Barslet (2011). Her exceptional acting ability also earned her a nomination for Best Acting Performance Female at the Melbourne International Film Festival for her leading role in the courthouse drama Lucia de B (2014), which made the Foreign Film Shortlist for the 2015 Academy Awards.

Her exceptional acting ability has also seen her play roles in international projects like the short film Drawback (2018), where she stars opposite Claes Bang, Heirs of the Night (2019), the Sky Italy show Devils (2020) directed by Nick Hurran (The Prisoners) and The Postcard Killings (2020) by Academy Award-winning director Danis Tanovic.

She also stars in leading roles in the Dutch-Belgium co-production Noise (2023), the Netflix film Oei, ik groei! (2023), Moloch (2022) by Nico van den Brink, Zee van Tijd (2022), De Vuurlinie (2023) and the TV-series De Stamhouder (2023) by Diederik van Rooijen which has been nominated for a Prix D’Europe and the thrilling series Sphinx (2023) also directed by Diederik van Rooijen for Videoland. Exciting projects on the horizon are Het Boek van Alle Dingen (2024), where Sallie plays a lead role alongside Daan Schuurmans, the BBC series Delia (2024) in which she takes on another lead role, and Until I Kill You (2024) by Nick Stevens. And Sallie wrapped shooting the new Amazon Prime Video series Bad Standing this year, a crime drama that follows the leader of a notorious motorcycle gang as he is released from prison. The series is directed by Diederik van Rooijen and Michiel van Jaarsveld.

Earlier in her career, Sallie starred in De Heineken Ontvoering (2011), Kenau (2014), Het Mooiste wat er Is (2015) and the TV-series Catch (2016).

In addition to her success in film and television, Sallie has made a name for herself in the world of theater. She has appeared on stage in several productions, including Joan of Arc, Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, and Othello, where she played the leading role of Desdemona. Her performance in Polleke earned her a Zilveren Krekel, the most prestigious Dutch theater award, in 2015 for the Most Impressive Stage Performance.

Sallie is a graduate from the prestigious Maastricht Theatre Academy - generally considered one of the best drama academies in Europe - being awarded ‘most promising graduation student’ by a jury of Dutch casting directors. Since then, she has proven to be a multi-talented actress, with a track record of top-notch performances on stage, film, and television.
