Thijs Boermans made an unforgettable debut in the Dutch Film Academy graduation film Gameboy (2014). His riveting performance earned him critical acclaim from Dutch film critics, vaulting him to the top of the list of the most promising new talents of 2015 following TV series Noord Zuid (2015) directed by his mother, Academy Award nominee Paula van der Oest. Thijs' father is acclaimed theatre director Theu Boermans.

Boermans starred in the horror flick JIMMY (2024), in which Thijs plays a gripping supporting role, Buenas Chicas (2024), the box office hit All Inclusive (2023) as the hunky hotelmanager and Vals (2019), directed by Dennis Bots and highlighting a girls weekend gone bad. Thijs kicked off his career with a bang, starring as the lead in the highly-debated TV film De Leerling (2015), about a 40-year-old teacher falling in love with her 16 year old student. This was swiftly followed by his appearance on the big screen in De Held (2016), by Menno Meyjes and the opening film of the Netherlands Film Festival and Kleine IJstijd (2017) directed by Paula van der Oest.
The upcoming Netflix thriller iHostage, directed by Bobby Boermans, is set for release soon. Featuring Thijs Boermans in a supporting role, the film centers on the intense hostage situation that unfolded at the Apple Store in Amsterdam in February 2022.
Thijs has previously been a series regular in the hit show Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden (2022-2023) and the beloved show Spangas (2017-2018). His popularity has only grown, with starring roles in the TV mini-series WTF! (2022), the much-anticipated Keizersvrouwen (2019) and Boy Feels: I Love Trouble (2021).
