Bobby Boermans

Bobby Boermans is a Dutch director and producer of films, television series, music videos and commercials. He studied at the Dutch Film and Television Academy and earned his masters degree at the prestigious American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles. For several years, he worked as a first AD in Hollywood and studied there under the supervision of David Fincher, George Lucas and Christopher Nolan.

Boermans directed the successful and critically acclaimed and high-end crime TV-series Het Gouden Uur (2022) about the first 48 hours after a terrorist attack, Hoogvliegers (2020) for which he collaborated with the Royal Dutch Air Force and Mocro Maffia (2018-2023), a crime series about rivaling drugs gangs in Amsterdam which has been picked up for multiple seasons and won the Dutch Academy Award for Best Drama-series twice. Earlier in his career, he directed the popular multi-season drama series Nieuwe Buren (2014-2019), starring Bracha van Doesburgh, Anna Drijver and Benja Bruijning.

In 2011, Bobby made his directorial debut with the thriller Claustrofobia. The following year, he released App (2012), the first movie to ever use a second screen in theaters. This movie proved to be a great success, leading to the quick sale of its remake rights. Later on, he directed the feature films Roffa (2014) which was nominated for the Prix Europa, the comedy film Fissa (2016) and his first theater production Sky (2016), a 3D musical in collaboration with John Ewbank. His latest feature film Invasie (2024) for which he collaborated with the Royal Netherlands Maritime Force on the Dutch Islands in the Caribbean had already been sold to Netflix prior to its theatrical release.

Bobby also directs commercials. He is the co-founder of production company 2CFILM, together with Robin Levita, Kees Abrahams (former Sony Pictures Television President) and producer Edvard van ‘t Wout.
