Melody Klaver

Melody is an award-winning Dutch actress, known for her leading roles in the international series Arcadia (2023- ) and Incognito (2023), and for her work in feature films such as Rafaël (2018), directed by Ben Sombogaart, and Koude Kant (2026). In 2019, she received the Golden Calf for Best Actress for her leading role in the international feature Rafaël. The NFF jury praised her performance for its emotional depth, highlighting her convincing portrayal of vulnerability, desperation and resilience in the face of impossible circumstances. Melody is also the author of the novel Een doodgewone nachtvlinder.

Melody started acting at a young age. At just fourteen, she received a Golden Calf nomination for Best Actress for her role in the art-house film Diep (2005).

After graduating from the Toneelacademie Maastricht in 2014, Melody was awarded the Kemna Award for Most Promising Actor in the Netherlands and Belgium at the ITS Festival. She appeared in several films and television series, including Schemer (2010) and Oorlogswinter (2008) by Martin Koolhoven, for which she won a ‘Rembrandt’ Award for Best Actress. For her leading role in the international feature film Rafaël (2018) directed by Ben Sombogaart, she received the Golden Calf for Best Actress in 2019. 

Alongside her screen work, Melody has a strong theatrical background. In early 2020, she toured nationally with Othello, produced by Het Nationaal Theater.

In recent years, Melody starred in productions such as Judas II (2022), Het Gouden Uur (2022), and Nood (2021 - 2023). Melody also released her debut novel, Een doodgewone nachtvlinder: with a slightly unusual story. There are plans to adapt the book into a film. Since 2023, she played leading roles in the international futuristic series Arcadia (2023 - ) and the crime thriller Incognito (2023). Followed by the mini-series Een moord kost meer levens (2023) and the new drama series Zussen (2024- ). This year Melody will be seen in the 2nd season of Zussen and the feature film Koude Kant (2026) directed by Johan Nijenhuis which will have its theatrical release in the fall.
