Jeroen Spitzenberger

Jeroen Spitzenberger is one of the most versatile Dutch actors, best known internationally for his supporting role in the Oscar-nominated film De Tweeling (2002), which went on to be a hit with critics and film lovers worldwide.

Jeroen dazzled audiences with his captivating portrayal of Pim Fortuyn in the TV-series Het Jaar van Fortuyn (2022), which tells the remarkable story of the Dutch politician tragically assassinated in 2002. His portrayal earned him a Dutch Academy Award (Golden Calf) for Best Actor in a TV-Drama, and the series was nominated for a number of prestigious awards, including the Prix Europa. 

His past credits include roles in box office hits such as Alles is Liefde (2007), De Dominee (2004) and both editions of the romantic comedy Mannenharten (2013). Spitzenberger starred as one of the leading roles in Meester Kikker (2016), Een Echte Vermeer (2016) about notorious Dutch art forger Han van Meegeren, and the thriller Bumperkleef (2019) which was awarded Best Film of 2019 by Dutch film critics.

Jeroen played the lead role in Süskind (2012), an epic WW II story about Walter Süskind, the ‘Dutch Schindler’, who saved hundreds of Jewish children from deportation to extermination camps. For this complex role he was nominated for a Dutch Academy Award for Best Actor and the film had a small theatrical release in the USA in 2013.

Jeroen has had an incredibly successful acting career, starring in multiple feature films as well as television series. From the beloved Divorce (2012-2016) about four ex-husbands to Oogappels (2019- ) which follows four families and their teenage children, Jeroen has shown his talent widely. He has also been featured in the incredible Vlucht HS13 (2016), Suspects (2017-2018), Stanley H. (2019) for which he earned another Dutch Academy Award nomination, Anoniem (2023) by Diederik van Rooijen and the feature film de Vuurlinie (2023). Next year, Jeroen will star in the Dutch Netflix comedy series Haantjes, set to premiere on Netflix in 2025.

Jeroen is a seasoned stage performer, with roles in classics like A Midsummernight's Dream and Romeo & Juliet, as well as contemporary works like PPP and Venus in Fur. More recently, he starred in De Kersentuin while also creating his own production Memento Mori with the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra. Next year, Jeroen will play the title role in the production of Cyrano.
