Aiko Beemsterboer is a talented young Dutch actress. She played her first role in the feature film Leve Boerenliefde (2013) when she was just 9 years old. At 18, she earned a Dutch Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the romantic comedy Wat is dan Liefde (2020). In 2025, she received a nomination for Best Leading Role for the feature Ik zal zien, in which she portrays Lot, a young girl going blind after a tragic accident. The NFF jury specifically highlighted her portrayal of Lot as carrying the emotional weight of the film, delivering a performance that is both subtle and powerful.

She landed her first leading role in Vechtmeisje (2018), portraying Bo, a talented but hot-tempered twelve-year-old kickboxer. The film received multiple international awards, including the Young Audience Award at the European Film Awards (2019), the ECFA Award at BUFF International Film Festival, and both the Audience Award and Cinekid Film Award at Cinekid. Aiko’s performance was frequently highlighted by Dutch press as a key strength of the film. She continues to make a strong impression with leading roles, including the box-office hit All Inclusive (2023). Her work spans a wide range of genres, with appearances in De Liefhebbers (2019), Wat is dan Liefde (2019) alongside Elise Schaap, the horror film JIMMY (2024), and the TV series Het A-Woord (2020) and Lieve Mama (2020). Most notably, Aiko has been a series regular on Oogappels (2019–) for multiple seasons. The series won the Gouden Kalf for Best Series in 2025 and the Golden Televizier-Ring in 2023.
Recent releases include Mijn Beste Vriendin Anne Frank (2022), with Aiko in the lead role of Anne Frank. Critics praised her restrained and emotionally layered performance: “Aiko Beemsterboer shines as Anne – a playful tease to her miserable last times.” After its theatrical run, the film was released globally on Netflix and became the second most-watched film worldwide in its first week. She also stars in Het Boek van Alle Dingen (2024), directed by Ineke Houtman, and the Netflix feature Ferry 2 (2024), in which she plays Ferry’s bold and rebellious niece, Jezebel van Kamp.
Aiko is currently attending The Academy of Theater and Dance in Amsterdam, where she continues to develop her craft. She speaks fluent English and is confident performing in both British and American accents.
